GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE
The Materials Director is responsible for the following functions: 1.) management and supervision of the evaluation, procurement, storage, and distribution of all supplies and equipment. 2.) management and supervision of the Mailroom/Printshop function. The Director oversees the daily operations of the Purchasing Office, Storeroom, Mailroom and Printshop, and coordinates Group Purchasing activity and the Materials Management computer system.
The Materials Director develops standards, vendor partnerships and contracts for Firelands Regional Medical Center business, institutional, medical, lab & surgical supplies procurement. This position is responsible for managing the overall business processes and day to day operations of purchasing including maximizing savings through effective management of Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts. The Director will meet or exceed customer expectations by continuously improving services, supplier partnerships, resources & communications to ensure the best product, at the right place, at the correct time, with the lowest life cycle cost.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
B.S. degree in Business Administration/Economics/related field from an accredited college required.
Minimum of five (5) years experience progressive responsibility in a purchasing organization required.
Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management or the Institute of Supply Management certification preferred.
Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license and be insurable under Firelands’ auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and MMIS computer applications.
